Competitor overview
Mediacom competes with both other cable internet providers (like Xfinity) and fiber internet companies (like AT&T and CenturyLink). In general, Mediacom tends to be more affordable than most of its competitors at the start, but the prices generally catch up by the time your contract is up. Additionally, with Mediacom, you’re stuck in a contract for between one and three years, whereas many of its competitors have abandoned service agreements entirely.
Canceling Mediacom service
Before canceling Mediacom service, you’ll need to make sure you’re out of contract. Otherwise, you’ll be on the hook for an early termination fee (up to $120 for a one-year contract and up to $240 for a two- or three-year contract). Beyond that, you’ll need to return any rented equipment. Call customer service to get the ball rolling.
