TDS internet plans start as low as $39 and go as high as $89. What you get for that money depends on whether TDS has fiber, cable, or DSL in your area. If DSL is all that’s available, you’ll get somewhere between 5 and 25 Mbps for $39. Opting for 50 or 100 Mbps will double your price.
With cable and fiber, you get a much better deal. You can get 1 gig for $89—less, if you’re willing to sign a contract. And in some areas, you can get a "price for life" guarantee, which prevents TDS from raising your rates every year or so like most internet providers do. So even if you find a cheaper plan elsewhere, it might be worth choosing TDS if you would prefer to stick with the same provider for the long term.
We gave TDS 3.5 out of 5 for value, which means it’s a bit better than average. While its DSL prices seem sky-high for what you get, that’s common among DSL providers. And if you live in a rural area, TDS’s DSL prices will look fantastic against any satellite internet providers. If you want faster possible speeds in exchange for a slightly higher price and less reliability, a fixed wireless provider is a great option.
Meanwhile, TDS cable and fiber plans are a much better deal if you can get them. They’re priced in line with other cable and fiber providers.

TDS earns a 4.5 out of 5 for equipment and installation because getting started is inexpensive, and TDS provides quality gear. Self-setup is free and professional installation is just $50—compared to as high as $100 for many providers. Equipment costs are lower than usual as well at around $10 for a basic setup—or $20 for one of our favorite Wi-Fi systems from eero.

New customers can get 1–3 free months of internet, depending on location. You’ll still pay for equipment and other fees, but your plan price will be $0 at first.
You may also see $10–$26 in monthly savings if you sign a 1–2-year contract, but these offers also vary by location.
Offers available for a limited time.
Bundling multiple TDS services can bring you greater savings. Exact savings vary by location, but you can mix and match internet, TV, and phone to save up to $15 per month on internet and $10 on TV.
If you cancel TDS service within 30 days of installation, you’ll get your money back. If you cancel after that, you’ll pay 50% of all charges you would have paid until the end of your term. That is, unless you cite slower-than-expected speeds as your reason for canceling. If you do that, it looks like TDS will let you walk away without these fees.
Either way, you’ll still need to pay the remaining costs of any gear you purchased, but you’ll get to keep it (unlike ISPs that rent equipment out). If you sprang for a Remote PC Support subscription, early termination will add $50 to your final bill.
TDS participates in the Affordable Connectivity program, which helps low-income households, Tribal peoples, rural health centers, schools, and libraries get internet. If you qualify, you could save up to $30 on your TDS bill.
